Head of Costing - Asiapacific

Job Description

Purpose :

Develop and implement costing strategy based on apparel sourcing strategy to maximize opportunities within the global marketplace. Lead the apparel sourcing costing function, ensuring a transparent fact based costing approach to maximize adidas –Group gross margins

 Key Responsibilities: (Mission of job/General area of responsibility)

  • Create and implement a costing strategy across T1 and T2 suppliers in close cooperation with HQ costing and the sourcing management team(Mission of job/General area of responsibility)
  • Take ownership and drive fact based costing standards for all elements of cost across all suppliers and countries. Understand and approve all regional differences where appropriate
  • Ensure LOs take a consistent approach to costing, through implementation of SOPs for each critical milestone.
  • Influence the sourcing and allocation strategy ensuring material and finished goods prices are an integral part of the process.
  • Take a proactive role to ensure that the organization achieves fair and transparent prices, optimizing margin for both the group and its suppliers whilst ensuring that our key suppliers enhance quality and are able to reinvest in improvement initiatives
  • With HQ brand costing, evolve costing tools to ensure we have a process build on continuous improvement.
  • Be aware of and react to economic drivers and market dynamics that may affect costs.
  • Through industry intelligence/research, identify worldwide opportunities which could impact the company profitability, ensure these are considered during the allocation and sourcing strategy process.
  • Create a profitable trading environment for suppliers in which they are able to enhance quality and reinvest in improvement initiatives.
  • Support the LOs to achieve fair and transparent prices that optimize profits for both adidas Group and the suppliers.
  • Work closely with key business partners in continually evaluating and implementing systems, processes and procedures to enhance performance and realize time-to-market advantages, product quality and cost efficiency.
  • Work with the Materials group to ensure alignment of T1 and T2 costing strategies.
  • Build a lean, effective and engaged costing team. Ensure adequate levels of training are in place to meet the changing needs of the costing function. Take a leading role in succession planning within the costing and country organizations.

 Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate university degree and/or 10 years of relevant business experience
  • Knowledge of apparel manufacturing industry, specializing in product costing, product development, or production.
